What Is Shayma Tulsi /Holy Basil

Shyama Tulsi or Holy Basil is an aromatic shrub with exceptional medicinal value usually found in every Indian home. Holy Basil/Tulsi’s scientific name is Ocimum Sanctum. It is purple to dark coloured leaves and is considered the best of all the basil breeds amongst the Rama tulsi or Vana Tulsi and other basil varieties available. The nature of holy basil is warm hence helps normalise kapha and vata.

Basil leaves benefits are known to almost every Indian but the convenience attached to the allopathic pills have pushed aside the ayurveda healing and medicinal herbs. And this simply over the years have made it as a secondary line of treatment thus rendering it ineffective.

In Ayurveda the holy basil is known as “Mother Medicine of Nature” and “The Queen of Herbs”. With its spiritual and medicinal properties the herb is revered as the elixir of life. The emerging science on holy basil suggests basil leaves as tonic to the human body with pharmacological benefits.

Making of Holy Basil Ark/hydrosol at SNAANA

At SNAANA the steam distilled hydrosol of holy basil is made with basil leaves and stems. The fresh herb is cut and steam distilled in which the steam passes through the herb and turns to droplets of water when it comes in contact with the condenser. It is like our earth’s rain process of evaporation- condensation and droplets of water. This ancient process is considered best even today because of it being totally chemical and preservative free. The collected droplets of water are free of contamination, debris thus making it stay good for more than a year when stored properly.

Holy Basil cultivation is also done at SNAANA farms just to ensure a pesticide free produce. Purity and preservative free makes this arrk a healthy synthetic free choice in the right treatment and upkeep of the body.

VOTE FOR CHANGE

SNAANA wants to drag your attention to the fact that we are still living in a legal framework that was adopted in British times and has not been amended at the pace synthetics/chemicals have come into use in skin care. Import, manufacture, distribution and sale of skin care/ beauty products are regulated by Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 and this law till date has not given a definite and uniform definition for usage of words on labels like natural and organic which is big-time responsible for misleading the consumers.

That is why what is packed in a bottle or jar in the name of natural, organic, ayurvedic is often not what it claims. Synthetic provide comfort and convenience to manufacturers in terms of making product cost effective and extending the shelf life but they harm our bodies. This is because we have never thought that these chemicals can make cause problems like migraine, cancer, hormonal disorders etc and much more in our bodies.

Let's stand united and bring this revolution TOGETHER.
