FAQs

1. How to identify natural products from chemical & preservative free products?

Literally, there exists no operating definition for natural or organic products when it comes to labelling cosmetics. A product can be either 100% natural or chemically synthesized. Chemical stabilizers helps to mix and blend oil & water which are otherwise non-mixable. We recommend you to read the label carefully- don’t be misled by highlighted natural ingredients- and make sure the list of ingredients do not have any chemical stabilizers or preservatives even in small quantity less than 1% that saves the product from damage. Many products mention only ‘Key Ingredients’ on labels. Make sure to ask the seller for a complete list of ingredients to gauge the chemical composition.

2. What’s the difference between real or natural soaps and commonly available bathing soaps?

Apart from artificial colors, scents or perfumes, commonly available products have chemical ingredients that increase their shelf-life. They harm the user in long run as they have fragrance( chemically synthesized compounds), synthetic colours, propylene glycol and suplhates etc. and stearic acid/sodium stearate to provide.

Snaana soaps are made from natural oils and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) which blend together to form Saponified oil – the final product does not have any chemical ingredient.

3. What’s the difference between natural creams and cosmetic lotions or creams?

Creams made only from natural ingredients do not contain water and stabilizing agents to increase their shelf-life. Our unique formulations prevent the products from microbial and bacterial growth without adding any chemical or preservative. Being pure and chemical-free our creams lose their consistency during summers, without impacting its benefits.

On the other hand, commonly available cosmetic creams, butters and lotions are added with synthetic stabilizers or thickening agents to hold the product consistency and fragrance during all seasons.

4. What’s the difference between natural staple bath products from commonly available staple bath products?

Our wholesome staple bath product is in powder form made only from natural botanical ingredients. It is a fine blend of herbs, spices and flours which are carefully selected basis each age group and skin condition. The dry form of this product maintains its longevity.

On the contrary, commonly available scrub and polishing staple bath products in market are in paste or semi-liquid form, they are infused with chemical emulsifiers and preservatives to prevent bacterial growth and increase shelf-life.

5. Why do we use goat milk in our soaps?

Unprocessed goat milk has natural emollient properties that keep the skin healthy and nourished. Soap bars made from goat milk do not require preservatives to prevent the product from microbial growth. This is because goat milk when added to NaOH* turns milk fat into saponified fat, and the water content in the milk gets evaporated during drying process (which is two months).

6. Why do our soaps melt during hot and humid weather?

Our all-natural or real soaps are oil-based; they tend to draw moisture during hot and humid weather. Furthermore, for product safety, we advise you not to keep the soap bar in water filled case as no chemical stabilizers are added in the product to sustain its shelf-life.

7. Why don’t we make colorful soaps?

We educate the buyers about the goodness of all-natural products which do not require artificial colorants. Our wholesome soaps are made with the choicest blends of herbal ingredients to put up with your beautiful skin.

Skin and body care products with different color variants are purchased for their attractive looks. Colorants are added to these soaps, body creams, lotions and gels ensure that customers do not reject them for dull appearance.

8. Why don’t we make tearless or tear-free soaps?

Tearless or tear-free soaps and shampoos are formulated with numbing or desensitizing agents. These soap bars are not real or natural soaps, but a by-product of chemical compounds that acts as surfactants.

9. Why don’t we make liquid soaps?

Any soap in the form of liquid needs chemical as a preservative to inhibit bacterial growth which otherwise can spoil the liquid in just a few days. This is not the case with bars. Snaana soap/shampoo bars have a long shelf life without preservative because the oils, herbs, essential oils & clays used as ingredients naturally have a longer shelf life.

10. Why commonly available healing balms contain petroleum products?

Balms used for lip care, foot care, or maybe allergy or pain relieving purpose are often made from petroleum product i.e. paraffin wax, which is not considered a strong healing agent. Likewise, mineral oil is also a petroleum ingredient which makes the product very cost-effective but not effective on easing a problem.

11. What is the reality behind soaps and products made from essential oils of mango, vanilla, banana, melon, kiwi, strawberry and other fruits?

Most commonly available bathing soaps do not contain essential oils, because essential oils cannot be extracted from fruits like mango, vanilla, blueberry, banana, watermelon, kiwi, strawberry and other fruits. For instance- vanilla essential oil cannot be extracted from vanilla beans. A product can contain vanilla extracts, absolutes or vanilla infused oils but not essential oil of vanilla. These are synthetic fragrance oils, easily and inexpensively synthesized in labs. The only way of extracting oils of such fruit is from its seeds and its scent is not similar to the fruit.

12. What is the difference between our massage oils and after shower oils?

Our massage oils are formulated for a thick concentration to give a smooth glide on skin during the massage process. Plus, these oils have pain relieving and skin soothing properties if used according to information given on its label. On the contrary, our after shower oils are light non-greasy oils which gets easy absorbed by skin. These oils should be applied on moist skin immediately after bath for a soft and nourished skin.

13. Why don’t our products have fruity or floral aromas?

Our products are exclusively made from natural blends with no added fragrance, scent or perfume to make the product smell sweet, earthy or citrus. Widely available products are infused with synthetic fragrances like amyl acetate (banana scent), benophenone (rose scent) and similarly much more. Consistent research in the field of synthetic or artificial fragrances has enabled companies to replicate natural aromas of various fruits and flowers. We advise you to carefully read the label before buying any skin care product to maintain good health.

14. Do you use ‘safe’ products?

The term ‘safe’ is widely used on commonly available skin and body care products. But we believe it is not apt marking these products ‘safe’ for the reason that any product which has minimum chemical or preservative constituent even less than 1% is not healthy and ‘safe’ in long-run.
